Official opening Tallaght Stadium 27th May 2009

Tallaght Stadium was officially opened on 27th May 2009 by South Dublin County Mayor Marie Corr and Martin Cullen T.D. Minister for Sport, Arts & Tourism. The stadium which was built by South Dublin County Council opened its doors to the public in March 2009 when anchor tenants Shamrock Rovers FC hosted their first home game. The celebration of the completion of the Stadium and the coverage of this event represented a milestone in the development of facilities in South Dublin County. Tallaght Stadium is a community facility and accordingly, two local primary schools teams celebrated the official opening by playing a friendly game on the new pitch.
